Nintendo will unveil the latest DLC character from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate this afternoon at 3pm UK time, and you can watch it all live via the stream below.
The presentation will be hosted by the boss of Smash Bros. Masahiro Sakurai, and should last 40 minutes.
Will it finally be Birdo’s time? Or will a third-party character like Sora or Crash land the last slot in the game? We can only watch and discover:
Ahead of today’s announcement, fans thanked Sakurai for his work on the series – and in particular the extended development time on Ultimate creating the value of two DLC character season passes.
“Bringing all of these games, new and old, together and compiling them into one product is a task that has meant a lot to me,” Sakurai said previously. “Come to think of it, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS has been in development for almost 10 years. I’ve been working on it for a long time. You could call it my life’s work.”
As a reminder, the much-loved Ultimate was first launched in December 2018, after three years of development that began shortly after the end of DLC production on the 3DS and Wii U entries of the series.
Three years later, the development of Ultimate will finally come to an end with the release of this last character and the last set of Mii Fighter costumes.
Maybe then, finally, Sakurai can take a well-deserved break?
