Chris Brown and Duck Straight-up jacked up another artist’s work for his hit “No Guidance”… so claim a singer and producer in a new lawsuit.
Brandon cooper, who is called Mr. Cooper, and Timothy valentine – aka Drum’n Skillz – sue CB and Drake claiming that “No Guidance” ripped off their work on a track called “I Love Your Dress”.
In documents obtained by TMZ, Cooper and Valentine claim that their song was dropped 3 years before CB and Drake’s “No Guidance” was released in June 2019. Cooper and Valentine claim that an analysis of the beat, lyrics, sound hook and rhythmic structure demonstrates that “No Guidance” “was copied or, at the very least, primarily derived from” I Love Your Dress “.
Specifically, the singer and producer claims that their track contains the lyrics … “She’s got it, she’s” repeated it 16 times while CB’s and Drake’s have “You got it, girl; you got it” at least 11 times.
Cooper and Valentine claim that even non-expert listeners can see and hear the similarities … claiming that Chris and Drake purposely exploited “I Love Your Dress” and even taunted them with lyrics about “stealing the coop,” which Cooper claims to be. a play on his nickname, Coop.
The singer and producer are suing for copyright infringement and claiming heavy damages. We have contacted CB and Drake’s camp, so far no word of return.
