Rotten tomatoes fights trolls online.

On Monday, the critic aggregator announced that it was disabling the comment feature on a movie before its theatrical release in order to combat critics, which recently engulfed critics of "Captain Marvel".

"Unfortunately, we have seen an increase in non-constructive contributions, sometimes to the limit of trolling, which, in our opinion, is detrimental to our general readership," he writes in a blog post. "We have decided that turning off this feature at the moment is the best solution."

Previously, anyone could leave written comments or reviews for a movie before it was released. From time to time, this would result in an attack of negativity on the part of people who had not seen a movie yet.

"Captain Marvel" (which will debut next week) was the most recent example, where the trolls slammed the superwoman and the alleged feminist agenda of the film in a coordinated attack.

"We are doing it to more faithfully and authentically represent the voice of fans, while protecting our data forums and public forums from bad actors," continued Rotten Tomatoes.

The company is implementing other changes, including ensuring that the "want to see" result is a raw number instead of a percentage.
