Leah Remini slapped Ellen DeGeneres during an appearance on her talk show Tuesday, moments after accusing the host of not always being “interested” in her stories – but it was just jokes among friends.

Remini, 51, appeared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” to discuss her Halloween plans and quickly became convinced the host, 63, was going to scare her live.

DeGeneres – who is set to quit daytime television next year – is known to have her employees sneak up on her unsuspecting celebrity guests and startle them.

Remini was telling the talk show host about an “elaborate” Halloween prank she had already played before starting to look nervously over her shoulder.

The “King of Queens” star explained why she was suddenly on high alert, telling DeGeneres, “You are acting really interested. So, like, I don’t know if you’re doing this thing where you are, like , in my story… ”

” I’m still interested ! DeGeneres fired back.

“You’re not, Ellen!” Stop! ”Remini replied.

The actress then leaned over and slapped DeGeneres twice on the arm.

“Ouch! This is my last season! the host responded as if to implore her guest to take it easy with her.

Remini said DeGeneres said she didn't seem to "interested."

DeGeneres will be leaving his hit show mid next year at the end of its 19th season.

The impeccable image of the talk show queen was tarnished in 2020 when former staff members complained about a “toxic work environment”. A Buzzfeed report released shortly thereafter included further allegations from staff members who said they raised concerns about issues of racism and sexual misconduct on the part of the producers.

DeGeneres addressed the on-air scandal in September 2020, stating: “This [past] summer, there were allegations of a toxic work environment at our salon, and then there was an investigation. I take this very seriously and I want to say that I am very sorry for the people who have been affected… I take responsibility for what is happening on my show.

Ratings for the program suffered as a result of the allegations, and DeGeneres announced in May this year that Season 19 would be its last.

However, the veteran of the day – who has frequently signed on for her show telling viewers to “Be nice to each other” – has no shortage of A-List buddies who publicly support her.

Jennifer Aniston and Kim Kardashian have both appeared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” in recent weeks, while Remini raved about the host during Tuesday’s interview.

“I love you, I miss you and I’m so happy to be here on your last season… Thanks for having me,” cooed Remini.
