Richie Faulkner of Judas Priest suffered a medical crisis on stage at a recent concert, which led him to the hospital.
The musician confirmed the news to Fox News in a statement Tuesday night.
“Looking at footage from the Louder Than Life Festival in Kentucky, I can see on my face the confusion and angst I felt while playing ‘Painkiller’ as my aorta ruptured and started to spill blood. in my chest cavity, ”he wrote.
The rocker explained that he suffered from an “aortic aneurysm and a complete aortic dissection”.

The guitarist, 41, said he was told most people with the disease “don’t make it to hospital alive” and that he has undergone 10-year emergency open-heart surgery. hours and a half.

Faulkner admitted he had a “recovery path” ahead of him, but promised he would “deliver the goods” to his fans when he could.
