Kelly Clarkson won another legal victory in her divorce from husband Brandon Blackstock, this one involving home ownership.

According to court documents filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Friday and obtained by USA TODAY, a judge has ruled that Clarkson may retain ownership of a ranch the singer owns in Montana.

The court cited the couple’s prenuptial agreement in dismissing Blackstock’s petition that the ranch, along with two other Clarkson-owned properties in the state, are marital property.

“The court therefore rejects the respondent’s (Blackstock) position that the Montana ranch and other Montana properties are marital property owned 50/50 by the parties,” the documents say.

According to People and Entertainment Tonight, Blackstock currently lives at the Montana ranch.

Clarkson and Blackstock’s divorce has been marked by legal battles, including a labor dispute over Clarkson’s management fees as part of the Blackstock corporation, as well as a custody battle for their two children, their daughter River. and their son Remington. Clarkson was granted primary custody of the children last November.

“The court concludes that in the circumstances of this case, the interest of ensuring stability and continuity for the minor children weighs in favor of the applicant (Clarkson) with primary custody,” said the decision.

Clarkson filed for divorce last June after nearly seven years of marriage to Blackstock, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the separation. The Montana ranch isn’t the only real estate owned by the original American Idol: it has an $ 8.5 million address in Encino, California. Clarkson sold a seven-bedroom, nine-and-a-half-bath mansion in Nashville, Tennessee for $ 6.3 million in late June.

The platinum-selling pop star previously said her unexpected divorce was difficult to cope with.

“I’ve spoken to friends who have gone through divorce,” Clarkson said during an appearance on the “Today” show last year. “I don’t know how people go through this without having some sort of outlet because it’s the worst thing for everyone involved.”

Clarkson is set to release their ninth studio album and second Christmas album “When Christmas Comes Around …” on October 15th. “Christmas Isn’t Canceled (Just You)”, a holiday kiss, is the album’s first single. .
