Terry McAuliffe, the Democrat running for governor of Virginia in an off-year election, was seen on a video teleconference raising concerns about President Biden’s popularity in the state amid the election under consideration as an indicator and a referendum on the term of office of the president.

The 12-second video was posted online by the Republican National Committee late Tuesday, which appeared to show hope during a Zoom meeting with a dozen others.
“We have to get the Democrats to vote,” he said. “We are facing a lot of headwinds from Washington, as you know. The president is unpopular today, unfortunately here in Virginia, so we have to get through it.”
The video cuts after the remark. McAuliffe’s campaign did not immediately respond to an after-hours email from Fox News.
Republicans grabbed the music video. Tommy Pigott, a rapid response director for the GOP, tweeted that a recent poll showed 46% of the state approved of Biden’s performance.
“And just as Virginia rejects Biden, voters will reject McAuliffe in November,” he posted.
McAuliffe faces Republican Glenn Youngkin and recent polls suggest a close race. McAuliffe is running for a second term after his first term ended in 2018, and Youngkin is a former business executive.

McAuliffe attempted to tie Youngkin to former President Trump, who lost Virginia by 10 points. At one point, he called Youngkin “bought and paid for” by the former president. Youngkin sought to portray McAuliffe as a failed politician.
Rachael Bade, a Politico reporter, told ABC’s “This Week” that McAuliffe had shown Democrats how to present himself and “certainly distanced himself” from the president during the campaign.
James Hohmann, a Washington Post columnist, wrote in a recent column that Youngkin “tore Biden apart in the final debate in Alexandria on Tuesday for” an abject leadership failure “in Afghanistan and” utter chaos “on the southern border. McAuliffe did not come to the president’s defense on either of these issues. Instead, he said that a $ 3.5 trillion price tag for the democratic reconciliation package is “too high” “.
