CNN presenter Jake Tapper on Wednesday called the new poll numbers for President Biden “brutal.”

Quinnipiac University has released the results of its latest investigation which show Biden’s approval numbers underwater. The president’s approval rating is 38%, up from 42% last month. The survey, which was conducted from October 1-4, also showed that the president’s disapproval rose from 50% to 53%.

During his first six months in the White House, the president’s approval rating remained around his 50s. But since his handling of the turmoil American exit from Afghanistan, his approval numbers began to decline. In addition to his handling of the withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan, a growing number of Americans disapprove of Biden’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic and the influx of migrants illegally crossing the southern border.

“These new poll numbers are downright brutal for the president,” Tapper said on his CNN show “The Lead”.

Although Tapper insisted that he was not a “liberal Democrat” and that he did not “advocate the re-election of Joe Biden,” he and his network frequently downplayed the failures of the Biden administration and of the Democratic Party. Tapper was one of many reporters who openly refused to discuss the Hunter Biden scandals ahead of the 2020 presidential election.

“The right is going mad with all kinds of allegations about Biden and his family. Too disgusting to even repeat here,” Tapper said in October 2020 when the New York Post ran his story on Hunter Biden’s laptop.

The Quinnipiac University survey also noted that only 39% of Americans approved of Biden’s management of the economy with 55% disapproving. When asked if Biden was being honest, only 44% of those polled said “yes” while 50% said “no”. Most notably, 55% of those polled said the Biden administration was “not competent” to run the government, with just $ 42 saying otherwise.
