Andrew Lloyd Webber believed that the Cats the film adaptation was “all wrong,” he said Variety in a profile published on Wednesday. “There was no real understanding of why the music worked. I saw it and I just thought, ‘Oh, my God, no,’ ”he said. “It was the first time in 70 years on this planet that I went out and bought a dog. So the only good thing that comes out is my little Havanese puppy. He later listed the dog as an emotional support animal, he said. An airline then asked him if a mental health professional had ordered such a thing, he said. “The airline responded and said, ‘Can you prove you really need him?’ And I said ‘Yeah, just watch what Hollywood did to my musical Cats. ‘ Then the approval came back with a note saying, “No doctor’s report is required,” he joked.
