United Airlines plans to increase its December schedule to 3,500 domestic flights per day, the highest number of flights to the United States since the start of the pandemic, expecting vacation travel to increase.
The Chicago-based airline’s schedule includes greater capacity to ski and beach destinations, including up to 195 daily flights to 12 Florida airports, the most ever. United first announced its expansion of service to Florida last year, as part of carriers’ drive to serve destinations that give travelers the ability to physically distance themselves during the pandemic and also avoid limitations. of other cities in terms of travel and other activities.
International travel remains hampered by evolving travel restrictions. The Biden administration, however, said it plans to lift the Covid-era rules banning many international visitors in early November, replacing them with vaccines and other requirements.
Airlines executives say the carrier’s recovery is closely linked to lower case rates. United said in September it had reduced its third-quarter schedule following the increase in Covid cases and a drop in bookings at the end of the summer.
United said searches for flights on its website and vacation travel app were up 16% from 2019.
