Cam Whitmore signs up for Villanova Basketball

Hall of Fame coach Jay Wright has officially added another member to the Villanova recruiting class of 2022, with the pledge of Cam Whitmore. The 6’6 “wing made the announcement Thursday on CBS Sports HQ selecting the ‘Cats over North Carolina and Illinois.

Whitmore narrowed its offer list to the trio of schools in late August and made an official visit to ‘Nova on September 17, having already visited the other two finalist schools in August.

The Severn, MD senior, who plays for Team Melo on the EYBL Tour, burst onto the scene in 2021 after moving from outside the Top 100 to a five-star fringe at No.27 in the 24 rankings. / 7 (and # 46 by ESPN) following the Peach Jam. Whitmore won the Baltimore Catholic League Player of the Year award last season. The most recent Wildcat, who is “still in attack mode,” averaged 22.0 points and 11.7 rebounds per game last year.

Whitmore becomes the third piece in Villanova’s 2022 recruiting class. It joins the commitments of Marc Armstrong (South Orange, NJ / St. Peter’s Prep) and more recently, Brendan Hausen (Amarillo, Texas / Amarillo).
