Based on the Isaac Asimov trilogy, Foundation, starring Jared Harris and Lee Pace, tells the epic saga of The Foundation, a group of exiles who discover that the only way to save the Galactic Empire from destruction is to challenge it. The renewal precedes tomorrow’s fourth episode, with the remaining six episodes falling weekly on Apple TV +.
“We were so thrilled to see the global audience embrace the captivating, suspenseful and breathtaking thrill ride that is Foundation“said Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV +.” We know how long fans of these beloved Asimov stories have waited to see his iconic work come to life as a series of visually spectacular events and now we look forward to showcasing even more the layered world, the compelling storytelling and the breathtaking world. building in season two.
“Since I was a child, I have dreamed of what Hari Seldon and Eto Demerzel would look like, what Terminus and Trantor would look like,” Goyer said. “Now, with season two, our audiences will be able to visit more of Asimov’s indelible characters and worlds, including Hober Mallow, General Bel Riose and all of the Outer Suns. I’m delighted that a whole new generation of fans are reading the brilliant masterpiece of Asimov. We play the long game with Foundation and I thank my partners at Apple and Skydance for entrusting me with this epic. Buckle up. We are about to fold some serious space.
Also starring Lou Llobell and Leah Harvey, the adaptation tells the stories of four crucial individuals transcending space and time as they overcome deadly crises, shifting loyalties and complicated relationships that will ultimately determine the fate of the ‘humanity. Laura Birn, Terrence Mann, Cassian Bilton and Alfred Enoch are also on the bill.
“David Goyer’s Foundation exceeded my expectations by bringing my father’s philosophy and ideas to the screen in a way he could never do while remaining true to his job, ”said Robyn Asimov, who is executive producer of the series. “I know my dad would have been proud to see his iconic story come to life through the show’s visual beauty and layered characters, fully understanding his words would need this cinematic translation. My father was deeply indebted to his fans, their loyalty and always hoped that his work would be passed on to subsequent generations. The Foundation series fulfills its wish (and mine) by presenting its work to a wide range of new readers. Given the cerebral nature of the Foundation books, this series is a tour de force.
Foundation also has a companion podcast which launched with the series on September 24 with new episodes weekly on Apple Podcasts. Hosted by Jason Concepcion (NBA Desktop PC, Frenzy Mode) and featuring Goyer, Foundation: the official podcast brought in creative talents for a more in-depth exploration of the making of the television series.
