Authorities say Christopher Ramirez followed a neighbor’s dog into the woods.
Authorities in Grimes County, Texas are scrambling to find clues to the disappearance of 3-year-old Christopher Ramirez, who has been missing since Wednesday.
Ramirez’s mother, Araceli Nunez, pleads with the public to help her find her son.
“I ask you all to help and find my son. I don’t know anything about him, and a lot of time has passed. I don’t know what to do. Please help everyone,” she told reporters to Spanish at a press conference on Thursday.
“I am desperate and my heart is broken. Please bring my son back, please help me,” she said.
Nunez said she believed someone may have abducted her son, but Grimes County Sheriff Don Sowell said there was no evidence of foul play.
Authorities said Christopher was playing with a neighbor’s dog on Wednesday around 2 p.m. local time while his mother unloaded groceries from her car. The boy then followed the dog into the woods.
The dog returned but Christopher has not been seen since.
Sowell told ABC News on Thursday that the research was ongoing.
“We are continuing what we did last and last night with a new team, new teams and no news to report,” he said.
“We also had search teams in the field yesterday and all night, so we already have another group in the field,” he added.
Community teams and volunteers scour the wooded area and use everything from drones to dogs to track Christopher’s scent.
The FBI also offered to help with the search.
“The FBI has offered all of our help,” ABC News affiliate Brittany Garcia, public affairs representative for the FBI in Houston, told KTRK on Thursday. “The biggest resource we offer them is the staff. So our evidence response team is here searching up and down, between trees everywhere, even in the water to find Christopher.”
