Authorities in Texas are looking for a 3-year-old boy who went missing on Wednesday afternoon after his family returned home from shopping.
Christopher Ramírez disappeared as his mother, Araceli Núñez, and another family member unloaded groceries from their car around 1:30 pm The boy was playing with his dog outside the house in Plantersville and chased him away. out of sight of adults, mentioned.
While the dog returned home, the boy did not.
Núñez, other relatives and neighbors searched for Christopher for about 20 minutes before alerting authorities.
More than 150 law enforcement officials from several agencies as well as search organizations and volunteers are helping to find Christopher, according to the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office.
While search operations are expected to continue throughout the day and night, efforts appeared to reach “a standstill” by Friday afternoon, Grimes County Sheriff Donald Sowell said.
“We do not receive any tips through 911 calls or through our dispatch center,” Sowell said.
“I am desperate”
At a press conference on Thursday, Núñez asked for help in locating her son, adding that she believed someone had taken her boy and was hiding him from him.
“Please give me back my child,” Núñez said in Spanish. “It’s been a long time, I don’t know what to do anymore.… I’m desperate.
As authorities investigate all possibilities, Sowell said there was no sign of foul play or kidnapping at this point.
Sowell said the search team had inspected several water tanks and reservoirs in the area. They also conducted ground searches with K-9 units and surveyed the area with drones and helicopters. Authorities are also reviewing surveillance footage from neighboring homes.
Christopher was last seen wearing a bright green shirt with shorts and red Mickey Mouse shoes. He is around 3 feet tall and weighs around 45 pounds.
The boy speaks Spanish and may only understand Spanish, according to the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office.
