Russell Wilson is unable to properly throw a soccer ball.
It’s a problem for the Seattle Seahawks. A major problem, in fact. Seattle is 2-3, 1-1 in NFC West. The defense is off to a terrible start in the passing game for the second consecutive season. Until that changes, Seattle’s hopes of being a playoff team hinge on Wilson’s ability to play the quarterback.
And at the moment, those forecasts are not very good.
Wilson is expected to miss six to eight weeks after undergoing surgery to repair a ruptured middle tendon, according to several reports on Friday. NFL Network reported Friday night that the operation was more complicated than expected and required screws, likely pushing her schedule past a month.
“I’m really going to try not to go into the details because I don’t know,” coach Pete Carroll said Friday morning. “I have heard a lot of things, but I am conveying information incorrectly if I do.”
Post-game x-rays were taken of Wilson’s finger, who collided with the hand of Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald in the third quarter of Seattle’s 26-17 loss Thursday night at Lumen Field. Wilson returned for three games, including two dropbacks, but was unable to grab the ball enough to throw it.
“If he could have thrown the ball and held onto it, he would have done it,” Carroll said.
