A US Navy who posted videos on social media criticizing military leadership and the withdrawal of the Biden administration from Afghanistan will be the subject of a court martial next Thursday and Friday at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune in Carolina North.
Lt. Col. Stuart Scheller Jr. faces six counts of misdemeanor, including willful disobedience to a senior officer, dereliction of duty, and conduct unbecoming an officer and gentleman the Marine Corps said in a statement.
Scheller was released from the brig last week where he was being held for violating an agreement banning posting reviews on social media.
He was relieved of his command in one of Camp Lejeune’s infantry training battalions in August after posting the videos on Facebook and LinkedIn after a bomb attack at Kabul’s Hamid Karzai International Airport claimed the lives of 13 US servicemen as well as dozens of Afghan citizens.

“Did someone put their hand up and say, ‘We totally screwed this up? “” Scheller asked in a video. “I’m not saying we can take back what was done. All I asked was to be held to account, for people to comment on what I said and say, ‘Yes. been committed. ‘ And if they had, I would have gone back to base and submitted and accomplished what I wanted. “

Many conservatives rallied around Scheller for speaking out against the chaotic withdrawal from the 20 Years War and his parents said his punishment seemed unnecessarily harsh.
“They are trying to bury our son,” his mother Cathy Scheller told Tucker Carlson late last month.
“He broke the chain of command… his crime was speaking the truth to power, and power couldn’t handle it,” his father Stu Scheller said in the same interview. “As he broke the chain of command – [Gens.] Austin, Milley, McKenzie – they broke the chain of trust in the American people. We are mad, we are mad as hell. “

Scheller is a decorated Marine who served for 17 years.
His other charges include contempt for officers, disrespect for senior officers and failure to follow an order or regulation.
