John Deere employees reject tentative agreements

MOLINE, Ill (KCRG) – Unionized workers at John Deere rejected a new contract deal on Sunday, October 10.

Hundreds of unionized John Deere workers gathered at the TaxSlayer Center in Moline on Sunday to vote on the new interim six-year contract. It reportedly covered more than 10,000 workers at 14 facilities across the United States

John Deere management said this means operations will continue as normal after the announcement.

Union workers wanted increased wages, pensions and health care benefits. In this new contract, employee health benefits remained the same. But there is still no post-retirement health care. Instead, the company offered a bonus.

“After weeks of negotiations, John Deere reached tentative agreements with the UAW that would have dramatically improved our industries’ most comprehensive wages and benefits for our employees,” said Brad Morris, vice president of relations working at Deere & Company. “John Deere remains fully committed to continuing the collective bargaining process with the goal of better understanding the perspectives of our employees. “
