We were able to get our hands on an early S10 + and we decided to take a look at its performance up to the iPhone XS Max.
The Samsung Galaxy S10 + uses the design that we are used to modern smartphones, with an edge-to-edge display and thin frames designed to maximize the size of the available screen. The Galaxy S10 + uses a 6.4-inch 3040 x 1440 OLED display. Rather than a notch, Samsung offers the Infinity-O display.
On the S10, it's a simple little circle, but on the S10 +, with a dual-lens front camera, the cut-out on the right side of the screen is a bit wider. It's a strange place, but like the notch, it mixes and you forget it's where it's used regularly. The OLED display is amazing with its bright and vibrant colors, just like the iPhone XS Maximum display, but the display of the S10 + bends down.
At 6.4 inches and with these curved sides, the S10 + is not a one-handed device, but the iPhone XS Max. Rather than using facial recognition like Apple's, which manufacturers of Android devices have not yet mastered, Samsung has implemented a sensor ultrasound fingerprint under display. It's pretty and works pretty well, but it's not as fast or as accurate as face identification.
Apples iPhone XS Max has a two-camera configuration, while the Galaxy S10 + is equipped with three cameras: a telephoto lens, a wide-angle lens and an ultra wide-angle lens. This is the same general configuration as expected in the successor of 2019 at the iPhone XS Max, but for now, Samsung has the advantage here. Samsung has implemented a unique "Wireless PowerShare" feature that allows the Galaxy S10 + to charge other Qi-based devices, such as Galaxy Watch, Galaxy Buds and even the iPhone. According to rumors, Apple would already use this feature in the range of the 2019 iPhone. The 2019 iPhones should be able to charge the supposed AirPods with the wireless charging case currently in production and other devices based on qi.
The Galaxy S10 + brings an updated Android One UI skin, similar to the original Android installation on Google Pixel devices. It is fast, fast and has a dark system-wide mode, which would have also been announced on iPhones in 2019 with iOS 13.
In terms of internal components, the Galaxy S10 + uses either a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip (in the US and China) or its own Exynos processor. The benchmarks have already suggested that the Galaxy S10 + is slower than the iPhone XS Max, but in practice, both smartphones are so fast that there will be no noticeable difference in performance between both.
The Samsung Galaxy S10 and S10 + are certainly among the best Android devices available at the moment, with innovative features and high-end specifications not included in current iPhones. We will have to wait until September to see what Apple is booking for its own 2019 lineup, but the rumors are promising so far.
