Last night, Adam Schefter revealed that the Titans are one of the three most active teams in the pursuit of Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown. The other two teams are Oakland Raiders and Washington Redskins. It was something I did not want to break, I fell asleep on the couch watching New Amsterdam.
Let's see what the acquisition of Antonio Brown would cost the Titans from the point of view of his contract. My good friend Zach, who manages the Football account and other F Words Twitter accounts, has published an excellent breakdown of Brown's contract for the remaining years:
Here's all you need to know about IF # Titans trade for Mr. Big Chest, @ AB84! How does this affect the #Steelers and it affects us. Simplified here is his cap shot:
Before March 17th:
19: 15.125 m
20: 11.3m
9:12 p.m.After March 17:
19: 12.625m

This number will not break the Titans in 2019 or beyond. The more I think of the Titans who acquire Brown, the more I love them.
The biggest problem for me is how it fits into the cloakroom of the Titans. That worries me a bit with everything that has happened in Pittsburgh, but I think it's something that Mike Vrabel could handle. As someone remarked on Twitter (I can not find it now), Vrabel was with the Patriots when they traded Randy Moss in 2007, in pretty similar circumstances. He saw how this was handled and could implement a similar plan here.
Oh, and the Patriots got Moss for a 4th. If Jon Robinson could take that away …
