Dana White would like to see Thiago Santos challenge Jon Jones to the next

LAS VEGAS – Jon Jones having successfully defended his lightweight title against Anthony Smith in UFC 235, an old known chorus got up.

Namely, what's next for Jones? Will he act from a move to the heavyweights, with whom he flirted from time to time? Or does he continue to defend the title against the new generation of suitors who developed during his absence?

If the president of UFC, Dana White, succeeds, it will be the latter. In fact, White even has a name around him that, he thinks, would give Jones a good shot.

"I love the fight of Thiago Santos," White said at the post-fight press conference. "I love this fight. I would love to see him versus Jon Jones.

Jones got a unanimous decision against Smith on Saturday night, dominating much of the action over the five rounds. Brock Lesnar, former UFC heavyweight champion, is one of the names that then circulated around the WWE. He is referring to a coming return to the UFC.

"Brock's fight is Cormier's fight," said White, questioned about a possible fight between Jones and Lesnar. "When Cormier is healthy, it's his fight. Plus, Brock has obligations to WWE right now, or believe me, he'll call me. So, [the Santos fight] is the fight to be done. "

White quickly pointed out that he was not even sure Jones would want to make the leap to the heavyweight immediately, especially after coming back from multiple suspensions.

"I do not know – he does not seem excited about the heavyweight," he said.

Since his victory in February 2018 over Anthony Smith, Santos, 35, has joined the UFC 5-1 and is currently leading a four-game winning streak. He finished his three opponents – Eryk Anders, Jimi Manuwa and Jan Blachowicz – via KO or TKO.

Given the race he has launched and Jones' ability to cope with greater threats, White said the fight spoke for itself.

"Look, Thiago looks amazing at that weight," he says. "He's fat, I like his fighting style. And when you put Jon Jones into this type of fight, Jones shines. Jones is one of those guys who rises to the level of his opponent. "
