The combined stores located just off Long Pond Road will be moved later this year.
PLYMOUTH – T.J. Maxx and HomeGoods separate and move. The combined stores located just off Long Pond Road will be moved later this year to two different locations. Homegoods will open at Cranberry Crescent Plaza, between Marshalls and Market Basket, while T.J. Maxx will relocate to Colony Place, between La-Z-Boy and Best Buy.
Building and zoning permits were filed with the city this week to begin the relocation process. Plymouth's Director of Inspection Services, Paul McAuliffe, confirmed that the documents were being reviewed by the city and that the stores would reopen at two different sites.
"They filed for construction at Colony Place and are working on plans for the site next to Marshall," he said.
T.J. Maxx and HomeGoods are owned by TJX Corporation, based in Framingham. The company also operates Marshalls, HomeSense, Sierra Trading Post and other overseas retail businesses.
It's unclear how, if at all, the opening of T.J. Maxx next to Marshalls will have an impact on this store. TJX representatives declined to comment, except to say by email that "T.J. Maxx has not announced any store changes in Plymouth yet."
In Plymouth, the current combination of TJ Maxx and HomeGoods is located in The Grove of Plymouth, the former Shops at 5. The outlet 5 shopping center is also home to BJ's Wholesale Club, Kohl's department store, Planet Fitness, Lumber Liquidators, PetSmart and other stores.
T.J. Maxx, the largest non-price home clothing and apparel retailer in the United States, plans to move into a 20,000 square foot retail space at Colony Place. This location between La-Z-Boy and Best Buy originally housed an Office Depot, which closed several years ago. Since then, it has been the site of seasonal retail activities, including Halloween and Christmas theme stores.
HomeGoods will open in a new retail site next to Marshalls. This store is often located next to or combined with Marshalls or TJ Maxx outlets. The channel offers a changing selection of home modes: furniture, rugs, lighting, decorative accessories, tabletops, cookware, etc.
No calendar has been announced for the closing of The Grove of Plymouth store and the opening of the new stores.
