TEMPLE, TX (KWTX / Gray News) – Temple police are investigating the death of a woman after a large rock thrown from an Interstate 35 overpass crashed through the windshield of the family car.

According to a press release, temple officers responded around 8:40 pm Saturday at a call of injury.

The Appellant told the 911 operators that a family of five was heading north on the highway between exits 303 and 305, when someone threw a large boulder from the overpass of the lane. railway.

The rock pierced the windshield of a vehicle and caused serious injury to the front passenger.

Passenger Keila Ruby Flores, 33, was taken to Scott & White Medical Center, where she died shortly after 10:30 am Sunday, police said.

Flores' boyfriend, Christopher Rodriguez, was driving the car while his three children, the youngest 6 years old, were sitting at the back.

"We had come back to Waco by road 35 north. Suddenly, something just hit the window, "Rodriguez said.

"An explosion has just gone through the window. I did not know what it was. I look over and I see Keila, and she lies down without reacting. I'm just shaking her up, trying to wake her up (but) she was not answering.

An autopsy was ordered.

The temple police said that there is no suspicious information.

Rodriguez and the entire Flores family sought the help of the public Sunday night.
