New York Magazine is in restructuring. WWD reports that the publication laid off eight full-time staff members in the areas of "audience development / circulation, editing, fact-checking, production and video". In addition, 16 part-time and temporary employees were fired.
"In some cases, the changes we make reflect the need to refocus on our digital subscription business; in others, they reflect late integration of print and digital staffs, "said a spokeswoman. WWD. "The restructuring reflects the difficult decisions made by our CEO and our management team in recent months to focus our efforts on the most promising prospects for future growth."

The staff of New York asked to join a union last December and was officially certified with the New York NewsGuild in January. The Guild and New York Magazine unions tweeted that they had been able to negotiate on behalf of the affected people with regard to severance pay, health care coverage and published labor rights.
