As Monday night approaches 5 The voiceBlind Auditions – Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Kelly Clarkson and John Legend's teams half-filled – I was wondering where were our R & B divas. Denton Arnell (Team John), "Hold on, we're going home" – Grade: B- | Chicagoan, 31, revealed in front of his blind man that he would bring an engagement ring to offer to his girlfriend after his audition. Fortunately, John (and only John) turned his chair around quickly. How much should it have been planned to ask the question after starting The voice… so what do not to move on The voice? Denton's voice was solid and sexy like hell, and had a tone that really sold his coach. The Drake number that he chose did not allow him to show a whole range, but heckthis last race was sweet! Oh, and his other important man accepted his proposal on stage – even after he accidentally hit her on the head. (Oops.)
Ciera Dumas (Team Adam), "Tell me you love me" – Grade: B + | After revealing in her interview, she was as intrepid with her hair color as LiLi Joy, Ciera told us that she would have been voted the most likely to win. And she was also a kid with chops, singing alternately with softness and strength, who was shouting, "I will not be refused." Another R & B singer – and this one without her age being a potential stumbling block. If only she did not choose Adam as a coach, what is it? thinking?
Abby Kasch (Team Kelly), "Here for the party" – Grade: C + | The first notes on the cover of Gretchen Wilson, the 20-year-old tomboy, sounded so good that you could have convinced me that she was synchronizing her lips with an iTunes download. Unfortunately, the rest of his performance was not so impressive; she was not as big as me (and maybe the coaches) would have hoped on her note of glory, and her voice did not have the gravel I was hoping to hear (and maybe only alone?) . Maybe that's why Kelly and Blake waited until the end of the number to press their buttons. Fun performances, and not bad at all, but not very good either, because I am convinced that it will go through the battles.
Mikaela Astel (Team Kelly), "Electric Love" – Rating: A- | This 14-year-old girl from Queens, seemed to me too young to try … until she opens her mouth. So holy shit! Ho-Ly shit! There was just Magic in his voice. She looked like a goblin singing a mermaid song or something. "You can not learn your tone," said Kelly, comparing the sound of the youngster to that of Regina Spektor and Julia Michaels. No lie, his beautiful and posed performance almost irritated my cynical and jaded eye. She's like the anti-Reagan Strange – a crazy but composed and confident young woman.
Anthony Ortiz (Team Adam), "What makes you handsome" – Note: D | The low performance of this skater shown to us suggests that it is a good thing that his coach likes the raw quality of his voice – because he was rather raw.
Olive Blu (Team John), "On and On" – Rating: C | We had only heard about Olive's performance, but that suggested that her coach was right; she has a style all her own. It was not necessarily a style that, in my opinion, would lead it beyond battles.
Shawn Sounds (Team John), "All my life" – Rating: A- | That day, this so-called college teacher, rock star at night, went viral last year with a video of himself singing in his Houston class. (Hey, that would have prevented me from sleeping in class.) On stage, he learned competition in the sound of a controlled voice. Plus, his voice was so rich that every time he ran, it looked like hot caramel stretched. John even described Shawn's last round of the equivalent of a triple vocal axel. Adam described what Shawn did while painting with his voice. Do I mention that he had a four-seat round? He also went smart with John as a coach.
