"The Big Bang Theory" has officially set a date for its final and star Johnny Galecki is preparing to say goodbye.

Galecki went to Instagram on Monday to react to the announcement of the last hour of the CBS sitcom, calling the end of the season's journey 12 "VERY surreal".

Galecki, who plays the role of Leonard Hofstadter in the series, posted a collage of photos taken on the set with his cast comrades, as well as a poster of the date of the finale.

"273 episodes have been filmed, there are only 26 days remaining on the Big Bang stage, there are 6 episodes to shoot 66 days before the end of the last hour," writes Galecki in the legend. "VERY surreal, much (of love) to all fans."

It was announced Monday on the official Twitter account of the CBS sitcom that fans would attend a one – hour final on May 16th. This long-time comedy – which also stars Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, Mayim Bialik, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar and Melissa Rauch – will "come out with a Bang!" the tweet I said.

Cuoco was also moved by the imminent finale, sharing the news on his Instagram story on Monday. "I do not cry, you cry," she wrote.
