Microsoft Releases New Windows 10 Preview With Mirroring Android Phone Screen

[ad_1]

Microsoft today released a new preview of Windows 10 with the mirror screen of the Android phone. The update replaces Windows 10 version 18353 (made available to testers March 8) and version 18356. These versions come from the branch 19H1, which represents the update of Windows 10 that will arrive in the first half of this year (probably finalized for Windows). Insiders this month and released to the public in April).

Windows 10 is developed as a service, which means that it regularly receives new features. Until now, Microsoft has released six major updates: November update, birthday update, creator updates, fall creators update, updates to day of April 2018 and update of October 2018.

We do not know yet if the next update will call the Windows Update April 10, 2019. We do know however that Windows 10 will be updated to the 1903 version.

Your phone has been highlighted in the previous update, which allows you to access the contents of your phone – SMS, photos and notifications – directly on your Windows 10 computer. Although this is not strictly related to the Today's publication, our goal is to improve. This is because Microsoft finally lets the testers try the screen duplication, which was revealed in October.

Simply called a phone screen, this feature reflects your Android display directly on your PC. This allows you to access all applications on your phone without even having to unlock your phone. To take advantage of a larger screen, keyboard, and mouse, you must have version 1.0.20701.0 or later of your phone and the latest version 19H1. On the phone side, you'll need Android version 7.0 or later, but Microsoft limits compatibility to four devices at the moment: the Samsung Galaxy S8, the Galaxy S8 +, the Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9 +.

Bug fixes and known issues

This 19H1 release includes the following general bug fixes and enhancements:

  • Fixed a Microsoft Edge crash encountered when interacting with combo boxes in PDF forms.
  • Fixed a problem that could cause the pilot to fire after an upgrade, even if all the parameters indicated that the pilot should be turned off.
  • Solved the following problem: Using the slider to adjust the intensity of the night light can cause it to lock up.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the nightlight to ignore the fade transition when it was turned off (manually or programmed).
  • Fixed a problem resulting in increased battery consumption when the screen was turned on in recent versions.
  • Fixed a problem causing the "…" menu content to be trimmed for certain applications such as Voice Recorder and Alarms and Clock when the application was in full screen.
  • Fixed a problem that caused some insiders to trigger error-checking green screens citing a KERNEL_SECURITY_VIOLATION error.

This version has five known issues:

  • Launching games using anti-cheat software may trigger a bug check (GSOD).
  • Creative X-Fi sound cards do not work properly.
  • Some Realtek SD card readers do not work properly.
  • VMware can not be installed or updated in Windows Insider Preview versions. Hyper-V is a viable alternative if you have the opportunity.
  • If you install one of the recent versions of the fast ring and switch to the slow ring, the optional content such as developer mode activation will fail. You will need to stay in the Quick Ring to add / install / activate optional content. This is because the optional content installs only on approved versions for specific rings.

As always, do not install this on your production machine.
