A lot Detroit Fans of the Red Wings have expressed their dissatisfaction with the current regime.

And it often makes Hall of Fame member Steve Yzerman want to come back to Detroit and help restore glory to Hockeytown.

On Tuesday, the Wings were eliminated from the playoffs, as expected, for a third straight season in a 3-1 loss to the Montreal Canadiens.

And at least one Montreal fan clearly indicated that Yzerman was wanted in Detroit.

The fan, seated in the second row behind the boards, waved a sign saying: Save us Yzerman.

Instead of a playoff race, the Wings are looking for the best 2019 hopeful, Jack Hughes. Detroit is currently second in the lottery standings.

Yzerman, who stepped down as Tampa Bay Lightning general manager in September to assume an advisory role and spend more time with his family in Detroit, is in the final year of his contract.

After this season, the 53-year-old said his future was unknown.

The captain has won three Stanley Cups in his 20-year NHL career, all in Detroit, and a management victory.

After retiring as a player in 2006, he worked for four years under Wings general manager Ken Holland, before joining Tampa Bay in 2010. He helped make the Lightning a Eastern Conference, although a championship has escaped the franchise. This season, Tampa has the best record in the league (53-13-4, 110 points) and 10 more wins than any other team.

Holland is under contract for the 2019-2020 season and by the end of February he was not worried about his work. He says, "I'm in a good place, whatever happens."
