"Captain Marvel" opens the door to two other female heroes of Marvel

Captain Marvel smashed the box office with its fun introduction to the most powerful hero of the Marvel film universe, and knowing how Marvel works is only a matter of time before the announcement of the after.

The film was successful in establishing Carol's credentials, but some elements of his plot also opened the door to the coming of two very specific Marvel heroes later in Carol's story. We were even in the movie, hidden from view!

Here are the two female heroes most likely to join Carol's adventures:

Monica Rambeau, A.K.A Photon

The first and most obvious reference to Marvel's future heroine is Monica Rambeau, daughter of Carol's BFF daughter, Maria Rambeau, 11 years old. While Maria is a tireless driver in the film, Monica is the known alias of a Marvel hero who also bears the name of Captain Marvel in addition to using the pseudonyms Pulsar, Spectrum and Photon.

In comics, Monica gets her powers after the explosion of an interdimensional technology that gives her the ability to turn herself into a pure energy being. She becomes immensely powerful, joins the Avengers and becomes its leader.

Captain Marvel's Monica has no power yet, but she's a brave and determined girl who helps Carol Danvers immensely to remember who she is. She helps design Carol's new costume and impresses Nick Fury with his ambition to build rockets and fly someday. Shee is also good at getting along with extraterrestrials, which is a great skill for any Avenger.

Since Monica was 11 years old Captain Marvel, she would be about 25 years old in the current MCU timeline and would be ready for an appearance in a modern Captain Marvel suite or in another Phase 5 movie.

As for the heroic alias that Monica could have in the MCU, there is a small clue in Captain Marvel. Her mother's call sign, Maria, in the Air Force, turned out to be "Photon", just as Carol was considered "Avenger". Maybe Monica will take her mother's old sign so that Photon and Avenger can fly together again?

Kamala Khan, A.K.A. Mrs. Marvel

The other most likely option for another female hero who Captain Marvel Kamala Khan, who does not appear at all in the film, is closely related to Carol in comics. Kamala is an Inhuman, a type of super-person who has been explored in Shield Agents, and his power is to manipulate his body in fantastic proportions, including leaving him limbs long enough to reach any enemy and expanding his fists to the size of demolition balls.

Kamala is related to Carol because she is his biggest fan. In comics, Carol Danvers had the nickname of Mrs. Marvel before becoming Captain Marvel. When she left Ms. Marvel's name behind her, Kamala took him back and fought the crime under that pseudonym.

Brie Larson has already mentioned Kamala at a press conference for Captain Marvel, and stated that having Ms. Marvel in the next film was "the goal", so it is highly likely that Khan will show up at phase 5. Since she is a teenage heroine coming from Outside of New York City, have her boyfriend with Spider-Man.

It is telling that the two great heroes that Captain Marvel brings closer to Marvel's film universe are women of color – Monica is a black woman and Kamala is a Pakistani Muslim. As the MCU continues to change course, it is important that the franchise learns from its previous successes while striving to include more diverse heroes representing its audience more.

If Carol Danvers takes the daughter of her best friend under her wing and inspires a Pakistani teenager, that's what it takes for more women of color to occupy the MCU, so be it. Bring the new age of heroes.
