Abiteboul pointed out that the best of the rest of the competition behind the top three teams is so tight that the teams will have to make every effort to be on top.
"It was extremely tight and it will be very tight all season," Abiteboul told Motorsport.com after the GP of Australia. "So, I think it's going to be fascinating.
"It's very difficult to do things right or easy to do things wrong in terms of tire management, tire choice and settings.
"We were not perfect in this regard [in Melbourne]it is also another area in which we must learn and progress. "
Abiteboul is waiting to see swings in form between each circuit, citing the problems faced by Ferrari at the Australian Grand Prix.
"The cars are extremely sharp, it's very easy to get in and out of the window, looking at what we did and some other teams did."
"Ferrari had this problem in the race, Red Bull did it in qualifying, and I think it's very easy to get there for no reason for reasons that are not necessarily under our control.
"It will be interesting to learn what happened to everyone, because maybe we can learn from everyone's difficulty.
"It can make the season interesting, but as far as we're concerned, we just need better execution.
"We have a car that can do better, but we have to eliminate all the little problems we've discovered this weekend."
