The creators of the popular Halo Online mod, ElDewrito, have stated that it was here to stay – despite the announcement by Microsoft of Halo: Master Chief Collection for PC.

The team behind ElDewrito broke their 10-month silence by claiming that the mod was alive and that some had made him afraid of being taken out of service now that Halo was set for the PC.

"Despite the goodbye messages to ElDewrito and the thanks we give you, do not be fooled, the mod is not dead, it is neither inactive nor endangered," wrote RabidSquabbit in a blog .

"In fact, it's the most popular for several months."

In a reddit article, RabidSquabbit revealed that ElDewrito had 540,665 unique players – a significant number for any mod.

ElDewrito, an extremely impressive mod for Halo Online, the Microsoft Halo 3-based canceled PC game designed for the Russian market, allows you to play multiplayer games on servers hosted by players, with multiple server browsers, customization of players and emblems, tracking statistics and even ranked and social servers.

By April 2018, Microsoft had decided to stop the active development of the mod, claiming that ElDewrito did not fit with Microsoft's content usage guidelines because the Halo Online code on which the mod is based had never been officially released.

The mod itself was playable and, behind the scenes, its creators met with representatives of 343 Industries to discuss their work. According to modders, ElDewrito has shown that 343 Industries was the perfect time to bring Halo to PC – officially, of course.

"They told us that our success with ElDewrito had sparked a spark and that we were told that he" was kicking us in the pants, "RabidSquabbit said.

"Of course MCC has always planned to be on PC, but has never been part of the current roadmap, so even though ElDewrito is not responsible for the fact that MCC comes on PC, it is responsible for the Now, for that, ElDewrito The team would like to thank you, the community, for spreading the word, played at ElDewrito with such positive reactions and appreciated the game in which we have invested heart and soul; ElDewrito is what triggered the PC MCC. "

So, what happens next? It seems that the ElDewrito team ends up helping 343 to change the support of Halo: Master Chief Collection on PC, but that will not be done for the launch. It should also be noted that the initial launch of Master Chief Collection will not include any Forge or Theater functionality. These are planned for a moment after the game's release.

The ElDewrito team is not thrilled with the planned launching state of Master Chief Collection, but it hopes to be able to help 343 to add bits and bobs later.

"While we are more than happy with the arrival of MCC on PC, it 's great news for all Halo fans, but many of us are a bit disappointed with what is being proposed at launch, "said RabidSquabbit. "ElDewrito 0.6 did not just try to bring a Halo PC game, it brought it with a very new experience while retaining the classic and original feeling of" Yep This Is Halo. "An incredibly improved Forge and a plethora of types of players and players customizing traits never seen before in a Halo game.

"We think this is a crucial aspect that should be included in the launch so that players remain interested in the limited initial content, but we are delighted that Modding and Forge support are on the roadmap for the launch. to shape this aspect of MCC ".

Regarding ElDewrito, an update is planned.

"Bottom line: this is by no means a goodbye," RabidSquabbit said.

"The ElDewrito team is not going anywhere and you will see a lot more in the future, either in the existing ElDewrito mod or in the PC MCC itself."
