CHARLESTON, S.C. – CBS Norah O Donnell, presenter of The Morning show this morning, said she had been hospitalized while she was traveling to Charleston.
In an article on her Instagram account, O Donnell says she had to undergo an operation at the Medical University of South Carolina on Friday night.
She posted a photo of her in a hospital bed and wrote that she had been operated on to remove her appendix "before it broke."
She also posted a video saying "heading for a surgical operation" and a photo in the MUSC ICU.
The last message from O Donnell showed her in a hospital bed and read: "Thanks to the amazing nurses, the surgeon and all the team" at MUSC.
Messages have since expired on his Instagram account.
Her husband, Geoff Tracy, posted an unexpected operation on Twitter. He called it a "big hit" and thanked his friends at CBS This Morning and the MUSC team.
CBS did not say when O Donnell will be coming back to CBS this morning.
