Clemson WR Rodgers tears ACL in practice

Clemson junior catcher, Amari Rodgers, suffered an ACL tear in Monday's training. The Tigers coach, Dabo Swinney, said Rodgers had been injured as a result of a routine pass.

Swinney said that if Rodgers' rehabilitation after the surgery went well, he could come back for the 2019 season.

Rodgers acknowledged the injury in a Twitter post Monday night, commenting that he "would come back better than ever".

Rodgers was Clemson's third catcher last season with 55 assists for 575 yards and four touchdowns, while serving as the Tigers kickoff lead, recording 299 yards back and forth.

If Rodgers misses the 2019 season, Clemson remains in solid form at the receiver.

Justyn Ross and Tee Higgins both return after strong 2018 campaigns, and two four-star recruits – Frank Ladson Jr. and Joe Ngata – are already registered and have received praise this spring.

Rodgers is the son of the former Tennessee star and current Flight Assistant, Tee Martin.
