Apple is sorry for the persistent problems associated with modern MacBook butterfly keyboards. But he still asserts that most Mac users like highly criticized and unreliable keyboards.
"We are aware that a small number of users have problems with their third-generation butterfly keypad and for that we are sorry," said an Apple statement to the Wall Street Journal. "The vast majority of Mac notebook customers are living a positive experience with the new keyboard."
Apple first introduced the butterfly keyboard in its MacBook early 2015, boasting at the time to see that its unique design was more stable and less unstable than traditional scissor style keyboard mechanisms. But this has proven endemic from the endemic point of view, and Apple faces many class actions because of all the problems, including blocking keys and keys that do not work.
To solve these problems, Apple has updated the design twice. The second-generation butterfly keyboard debuted in the MacBook Pro in 2016, but users immediately reported having the same problems. Following the complaints, Apple finally opened a new keyboard service program for MacBook and MacBook Pro users in mid-2018. And then, he delivered the third-generation butterfly keyboard in a revised version of the MacBook Pro a month later. This design includes silicone caps that cover the butterfly key switches designed to prevent dust from interfering with the key mechanism. And although Apple has never publicly admitted this change, the internal documentation proves that this membrane has been added to solve problems. Apple has also added the third-generation butterfly keyboard to its MacBook Air, late 2018.
But we now know that the fix does not work: users always report the same sticky and non-functional keys with MacBook, based on the latest keyboard design.
"I view these keyboards as the worst products in Apple's history," said John Gruber, an Apple insider. "MacBooks should have the best keyboards on the market. instead, they are the worst. They are damaging the reputation of the MacBook brand. "
