The Washington Wizards defeated the Phoenix Suns 124-121 on Wednesday night. Here are five observations of the game …
1. This will happen and it will probably happen soon, but by defeating the Suns, the Wizards have avoided elimination in the playoffs for at least another day.
They can thank Thomas Bryant for that. Young center Wizards made three shots on goal 28.6 seconds into the end, then left them for good with a three-point game with just 2.8 seconds to go.
Bryant, of course, lit up the Suns earlier this season with a perfect night of 14-14, the best shooting game since Wilt Chamberlain. In this one, he scored 18 points with a career high of 19 rebounds while spending most of his time fighting against # 1 choice Deandre Ayton.
The Wizards have won a series of five consecutive losses at the top of the season. They have six games left.
2 The Wizards are a team that may have little chance to play for the moment, but there are many individuals on their roster who are about to hit the ranks of autonomous players in a few months. Basically, it's time for guys like Jabari Parker to go to work and improve their stats.
On Wednesday, Parker had a big game that could catch the eye of a prospective contender who checks his 2018-19 game logs this summer. He caught fire early with 18 points and 10 rebounds in just 15 minutes. He finished with 28 points and 15 boards.
Parker can score and bounce and will probably do a lot of both at home this season. Maybe he could increase his price, whether here or elsewhere, because it's basically a lock that wizards will refuse to his team.
3 Bradley Beal is one of the best guards in the NBA, but Devin Booker is not far behind.
He turned on the Wizards for 50 points, including 30 in the first period. That followed a 59-point game against the Jazz on Monday.
It's hard to believe that Booker is only 22 years old. He is the youngest player in NBA history to have played 50 consecutive games. He has many head rattles in the future, and probably also all-NBA selections.
Beal, of course, was holding his. He scored 28 points, including 21 in the second half. He made five three.
4 One night after being caught off guard at a viral moment against the Lakers, Jeff Green reversed the scenario and claimed Dragan Bender as a victim.
Green threw a dunk monster on Bender, one of the best slams in the wizarding season. He got up there and Bender just had no chance.

The best part perhaps was the reaction to the dock, in which Sam Dekker obtained a cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

That should make up for the fact that Lance Stephenson is embarrassed (sort of).
5 Like Parker, Jordan McRae has the opportunity to do something these past two weeks. He is on a two-way contract, but will seek a new contract with the Wizards or another team this summer.
On Wednesday, he played 25 minutes and capitalized with 21 points on a 8-on-10 shot. McRae has repeatedly shown this season that he could score at the NBA level. He may have trouble defending himself and other areas of the game, but he can score.
The Wizards earned him a two-way contract largely because of a shoulder injury that took him a long time last season. He will probably get a guaranteed NBA contract this time.
