Mark Hamill will announce to Chucky the killer doll in the upcoming remake of Child's Play, announced Saturday Orion Pictures.

The Star Wars actor joins Aubry Plaza, Gabriel Bateman and Brian Tyree Henry.

Described in the press release as "a contemporary reinterpretation of the classic horror of 1988," Child's Play "follows Karen (Plaza), a single mother who offers her son Andy (Bateman) a doll Buddi, ignoring his more sinister nature. "

"We feel incredibly fortunate to have an icon creating a new interpretation of an iconic character," said David Katzenberg, producer alongside Seth Grahame-Smith.

"Mark is a talented actor and vocal performer, and he has risen to this challenge with incredible energy and commitment."

Lars Klevberg (Polaroid) directs Child's Play from a screenplay by Tyler Burton Smith (Sleeping Dogs, Quantum Break video games) based on the original 1988 film. Aaron Schmidt and Chris Ferguson are producers executive.

Orion Pictures will launch Child & # 39; s Play via its United Artists Releasing banner on June 21, 2019.
