HARPURSVILLE, N.Y. – Three weeks after its birth, Animal Adventure Park announced the name of April, the baby of the giraffe.
The calf was born on Saturday, March 16 and fans around the world were invited to help him name him at an online contest.
Fans finally chose "Keeper's Choice" to convey the big decision to the calf care team.
The team had 20 names from which to choose and selected Azizi.
According to Animal Adventure Park's Facebook post, Azizi has meanings that truly identify with the young giraffe's personality.
"Precious, powerful, loved and" the mighty "describes the calf. Finnegan, Apollo and Zumi also competed.
Azizi should reach 18 feet and weigh more than 2,000 pounds.
He currently weighs over 170 pounds and is 6 feet tall.
