BARBOURSVILLE, West Virginia – A sensational case of a child abduction attempt in a West Virginia mall may be nothing more than a man who loves a little girl.
Barbors police said at the beginning that a woman had shot a gun at the man, forcing him to release his 5-year-old daughter. Mohamed Fathy Hussein Zayan was arrested near the Huntington Mall shopping center's food court for attempted kidnapping.
But the engineer from Alexandria, Egypt, aged 54, was released Tuesday night, and the police sergeant. Anthony Jividen says that a prosecutor will have to decide whether to charge the woman instead.
The sergeant says that the mother says that she may have misinterpreted the intentions of the man. He does not speak English and the police say that he might have simply petted the girl.
