Division 2 lands on the beach tomorrow and raids April 25

Division 2 launches its first major update tomorrow, starting a mini-season of content, Ubisoft and Massive call Invasion: Battle For DC. Divided into three updates, the Stronghold mission is to eliminate the Black Tusk faction, a new world level with new invaded missions and a new PvP card. On April 25, the game is scheduled for its first eight-player raid and its first classified assignments exclusive to season tickets. The fourth specialization subclass, due late (but not dated), seems to let the players wear a minigun because the subtlety is overestimated.

Tomorrow's update will have a lot to do, but you'll have to take a little more to get there. The Tidal Basin Fortress, which includes high-tech fortifications and the massive Black Tusk aircraft carrier, will not be unlocked until all of the usual Stronghold missions at level 4 are complete. The new Stronghold includes drops for two new exotic weapons and three new sets of armor. Beyond that, World Tier 5 offers the new difficulty setting without a heroic checkpoint, new Invaded missions that change every week and a new maximum score of 500 gears, for even greater accuracy.

It's a good thing that running and shooting in the game is so fun. I'm supportive of Brendan and his article in Division 2 saying that the game has almost no story to tell (an awesome feat for a huge mega-budget game), but manages to catch up with it by being a game of cooperative shooting very fun. Later this month, the first eight-player raid, Operation Dark Hours, according to Ubisoft, is much more involved and focused on teamwork than anything currently in the game. There will even be puzzles to solve, which will be added to the growing list of game mysteries.

All of these, including future episodic updates, will be free to all, with the exception of Assigned Ranks, which we know very little about, but seemingly build on the city's past. These are the only entirely exclusive element to the season pass. The next episodes will be stuck behind the annual pass for a week before becoming available to all, and the release of new specializations will be possible thanks to the rectification. As long as they stick to their weapons, it's a big step forward from the first game's DLC, which divides the player base into slimmer slots at each exit.

After Invasion: Battle For DC, three seasonal updates are scheduled. In the summer, we go beyond the walls in DC Outskirts: Expeditions. Fall brings Pentagon: The Last Castle, and the winter update is a mystery, but PC Gamer believes that we are returning to New York. My hope is that Ubi will develop the two "secret" enemy factions (silent and scary, dragging sewer inhabitants and urban charailleurs) into full-fledged groups of villains. They are too interesting to be relegated to the darker recesses of DC, although the increased influence of these can undermine the impact of the nocturnal encounter of a whimsical chainsaw maniac.
