PHILADELPHIA – Milwaukee Bucks goaltender Eric Bledsoe was sent off less than three minutes after Thursday's game against the Philadelphia 76ers after an aggressive takeover match with Sixers' center Joel Embiid.
At 2:36 of the first quarter, Embiid and Bledsoe got tangled up and Embiid got away with a small crush on Bledsoe. Bledsoe was offended by this and retorted with a push in Embiid's back.
Embiid responded by throwing the ball at Bledsoe, which was about 10 or 15 feet away. Bledsoe responded by hitting the ball directly on Embiid's chest, hitting him in the center of the ball and bouncing him back before he could react. The ball landed near Sixers forward Mike Scott, who threw the ball directly at Embiid, with players from both teams quickly converging on each other.
After a brief review, the officials gave their opinion: a technical foul for Embiid and Scott, and two – and with it, an automatic expulsion – for Bledsoe.
As the crowd cheered wildly for news and Bledsoe headed for the Milwaukee locker room, Embiid – who was at the other end of the court, his right hand over his head – motioned to Bledsoe to walk. away with his left.
