President Trump announced Thursday that he would appoint Jovita Carranza to head the Small Business Administration (SBA).
Trump's announcement came nearly a week after Linda McMahon, SBA administrator, revealed that she would step down.
"I am pleased to announce that Jovita Carranza will be named new @SBAgov administrator," says Trump. tweeted. "She will replace Linda McMahon, who has done a great job. Jovita was a great treasurer of the United States – and I can not wait for her to join my cabinet!

In her role in the Treasury Department, Carranza acts "as the secretary's principal advisor [Steven] Mnuchin ", according to their website.
She also held the position of Assistant Administrator at the SBA during the tenure of former President George W. Bush, the department announced.
McMahon tweeted next word on the nomination, stating that she thought that Carranza would make "a wonderful" administration of the SBA.

"I know her well and I am a big fan. She is an effective leader and she is a strong supporter of small businesses in this country. Congratulations, Jovita!
McMahon had previously announced that his resignation would come into effect on April 12.
Carranza's candidacy must now be approved by the Senate.
