A British driving instructor claims that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stole his Instagram name.
Kevin Keiley told Radio 1 Newsbeat that he had used the pseudonym @sussexroyal for three years because he supported the Reading FC football team – nicknamed the Royals – and lived in West Sussex.
But on Tuesday, when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex launched their official Instagram account, Keiley realized that his name had been erased.
"I received a nice text from my son, who said," Ha ha, I see that your sleeve is gone at that time, "he recalls. "I thought," What is that? ", He said," Look on Instagram, "so I looked at Instagram and suddenly, my nickname was no longer @sussexroyal but well @_sussexroyal_.
"He was taken."
The 55-year-old said he was "upset" that no one from the royal family or Instagram asked him his name.
"I did not ask that. I have this account for years. It's not very pleasant, "he said.
Instagram has confirmed that it took the name, citing a policy that allowed them to make changes to an account if it had been inactive for some time.
"I'm a little reluctant to use Instagram until I talk to them personally," Keiley said.
