Democratic presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke received an unusual invitation during the election campaign in Iowa on Thursday: a high school student asked her to be her appointment for the prom.
During an election campaign in Sioux City, 17-year-old Claire Campbell asked O'Rourke, "It's good if you say no, but will you go to prom with me?"
O'Rourke said he was "really touched" because he did not attend his own ball when he was in high school.

"It means more to me than you know," he told him, before making his own request.

This light exchange was a stark contrast to O'Rourke's earlier response to a journalist in which he compared President Trump's rhetoric to Nazi Germany.
