US companies added 196,000 jobs in March, marking a sharp rebound from the weak growth of the previous month.

The March figure for non-farm payroll in the United States exceeded analysts' expectations and exceeded the 33,000 jobs created the previous month.

The February figure has been revised upward from the initial reading of 20,000, a minimum of 17 months.

The numbers show that there was an increase in jobs in the health sector last month, but a decline in retail and manufacturing.
