Amazon Alexa headphones will compete with AirPods, report says

[ad_1]

Apple's "courage" to remove the headphone jack from the iPhone has arrived too early for most wireless headphone manufacturers, including Apple. We are now taking advantage of the second generation of AirPod, but Apple is expected to face new competition from one of the largest players in the category of smart devices: Amazon.

According to Bloomberg, Amazon is expected to offer a competitor to Apple's AirPods in the second half of 2019. They will be very similar to those of the second generation of AirPod. Alexa manages voice interactions and physical gestures to answer and end a call.

One of the areas of intervention is audio quality. It is clear that Amazon wants to outclass Apple where it can, and a better audio experience seems to be the best way to attract the attention of consumers. Alexa headsets can be expected to mirror AirPods in other areas, including a carrying case that doubles as a charger, which can itself be recharged with a USB cable. As for the colors, we should apparently expect black and gray options.

For these headphones to be smart, Amazon must associate them with a smartphone. This means that Android and iOS devices will have to run an Alexa app to work. Since these applications are already popular, this should not be a barrier for people who choose to buy them with AirPods, but Amazon could offer another advantage in terms of pricing.

The AirPods are currently selling at $ 159 with a charging case or $ 199 with a wireless charging case. Amazon is still eager to offer lower prices than its competitors. So we could see Alexa headsets for $ 129 or $ 99 if Amazon really wanted to make an impact. If the audio quality is better, the result should be immediate.
