Remember how slow the arrival of 4G LTE support was a few years ago? Well, get ready to feel the same emotions waiting for your operator to market 5G in your area. Verizon spokesperson David Veissmann posted the following clip on Twitter, showing 5G speeds of up to 760 Mbps recorded in Minneapolis. Needless to say, it's pretty impressive.
CNET tested the Verizon 5G network in Chicago and achieved real network speeds of more than 516 Mbps. Again, this is not the maximum theoretical speed for 5G, but the following video will show you how 5G can be incredibly fast, at least in terms of download speeds compared to 4G.
As the video shows, 5G connectivity is still uneven and could not be expected sooner. This means that you can enter and exit the 5G depending on where you live in the city. In this case, you will switch to 4G. Engadget Chris Velazco also did a 5G test in Chicago with the same Moto Z3 with a 5G Moto Mod attached to the phone at the bottom. Speeds were almost 600 Mbps, which is almost four times faster than 4G LTE.
Velazco also mentioned in the following tweets that the connection was "very complex", but he managed to download the PUBG application of 1.81 GB in 4.5 minutes.
If you live in Chicago or Minneapolis, the only way to upgrade to 5G is to buy the only compatible Verizon phone. You guessed it, it's the Moto Z3 with the 5G Moto Mod. You can also wait a few more weeks to buy the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G, which will be available soon.
