As expected, the Atlanta Braves activated right-hander Kevin Gausman from the injured list on Friday. He will make his season debut on the first day of the series against the Marlins. To make room on the training, Atlanta opted for right-handed Shane Carle at Triple-A Gwinnett.

Gausman defended the Braves well last season, but was slowed this spring by a shoulder injury that led him to start the season on the injured list. He made 10 starts for the Braves last season by scoring a 2.87 ERA (3.78 FIP) in 59 2/3. Gausman had a tough start in the spring, but he did well in his last spring training and intensified his activities while looking healthy.

Carle had a good start in Atlanta in 2018 but struggled. He has appeared in three games this season, allowing three hits and five earned runs in just 3 2/3 innings.
