The body found in a warehouse in New York City was identified as that of a mother and a missing teacher last week, authorities said Friday.
Jeanine Cammarata, 37, a mother of three and a substitute teacher at a public school in the borough of Staten Island, was reported missing on Saturday. Cammarata, who also worked in a Dollar Tree, did not show up for work on Monday.
His disappearance triggered a desperate search on the part of his relatives and the police.
A body, described by Shea as "charred and unidentifiable," was discovered Thursday at a storage facility in Staten Island. The New York City Medical Examiner performed an autopsy and made a positive identification on Friday.
"This young woman has been positively identified as Jeanine Cammarata, with a positive identification made through dental records," said Dr. Barbara Sampson, Chief Medical Examiner.
The cause of death is pending, according to the coroner's office.
Her husband, Michael Cammarata, was charged with second-degree murder on Friday, Detective Chief of Police New York Dermot Shea said on Twitter. Another suspect, Ayisha Egea, has also been charged with murder in the alleged death of Jeanine Cammarata.
"The investigation into the disappearance of Jeanine Cammarata is now officially an investigation for murder," tweeted Shea. "Working closely with @StatenIslandDA, we arrested Michael Cammarata and Ayisha Egea, both charged with 2 ° #jeaninecammarata murder."
The suspects, who live in the same home in Queens, have also been charged with concealing a human corpse and falsifying physical evidence, according to the NYPD. Their relationship was not immediately clear.
