For Nintendo Switch players looking for something more convenient than running a mobile app for voice chat, PDP brings a wired gamepad with an audio jack and controls, integrating the conversation with a switch controller for the first time. But there is a problem.
Faceoff Deluxe + PDP "supports the chat integrated into the Vivox game," according to a press release, which is a shortcut to say that the 3.5mm audio jack and audio controls will only work for games with multiplayer chat works with this technology. Fortnite is one of them. The controller will cost $ 24.99 and pre-orders will begin in May, with the unit going on sale in June.
It looks like a Switch Pro controller, except that it adds two more programmable buttons. There is a red camouflage pattern and a purple camouflage version, and the camera can accept blocks-visited elsewhere in the PDP Faceoff line.
PDP calls this "the best Nintendo Switch controller for serious gamers", and they have a point. Switch owners must go through a mobile application, which compresses in all kinds of conditions. In September 2017 at least, two of the heaviest requirements were met, allowing the chat to continue if the user switched to another application or if the screen of his mobile device went black. Nevertheless, the multiplayer conversation on the switch is a more tolerated feature than it is appreciated.
PDP is associated with Vivox, who developed the cat in-game for Fortnite on Nintendo Switch, to develop the integrated chat controller. The PDP company blog has more.
Update: An earlier version of this message was missing the condition that controller support for discussion was limited to games supported by Vivox. It has been revised throughout.
