Fisher-Price issues warning after 10 infant deaths reported

Fisher-Price and the Consumer Product Safety Commission today issued a warning after multiple reports of infant deaths in a Fisher-Price product.

Since 2015, 10 infant deaths have been reported in Rock Play, according to the commission.

Reports indicated that deaths occurred when infants switched to the product.

As deaths continue to occur, the Commission recommends that people stop using the product as early as 3 months of age or as soon as children begin to turn around.

The commission said it had previously warned people to use restraints in sleep products intended for infants.

Fisher-Price officials have also warned people to stop using the product when babies begin to turn around.

Company officials said the reported deaths would suggest that some people continue to use the product even after infants are able to roll, and allow them to use it in the product without using the restraint at three points of the harness.

In his warning, Fisher-Price officials and the Commission remind people to create a "safe sleep environment for infants, whether it uses a cradle, cradle, playground or slanted bed" .

The warning says never to add blankets, pillows, stuffed toys or other objects, and always place young children so they sleep on their backs.
