Earlier this year, Google added a very neat Waze feature to Google Maps to enhance your browsing experience: outsourced traffic data. After being spotted in tests for several months, the incident reporting feature has been integrated with Google Maps for Android and supports two different types of reports, including quick traps and crashes.
In the future, Google brings a new type of incident reporting to the mobile app that will allow you to easily mark traffic slowdowns.
What's great about this particular feature is that it can help you improve your commute by reducing the time you spend stuck in traffic. As Android font explains more Google Maps users are informed of this feature and start to use it, the better will be the Google Maps navigation experience.
This is because the application will be able to adapt more quickly to heavy traffic conditions and suggest other routes to avoid slowdown long before you reach it. This is one of the great things about Waze, which will redirect you to a faster route when traffic jams are detected.
As it stands, Google Maps will automatically notify you of traffic congestion, but this information is not based on outsourced data. It's also not very fast or convenient, as it may not leave you enough time to avoid being caught in traffic jams.
As before with reports of crash incidents and speed traps, you will have nothing to do to get the new Slow menu item (see image above). It will just appear in the Add a report Google Maps app menu for Android, as you can see above. Again, Google is rolling out these features in stages. So do not be surprised to have to wait a long time before the feature is launched on your market.
